The benefits of the ketogenic diet

Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 4.11.37 PM                                                 Get healthy and RIPPED on keto at any age!

I get the questions regarding saftely and low body fat on women in keto. To keto adapt smoothly you must heal your thyroid, liver, gut as well as adrenals. I eat 80 percent fat to stimulate ketosis. There is no starvation of vital nutrients or the building blocks of reproductive material from cholesterol. Bam I’ve never missed a menstrual cycle based on low body fat.

    Hello Stephanie!
I have been doing nutrional ketosis since March 2014 and really jumped in beginning with the fat fast. I experienced all the normal side effects..keto flu as they say but with adding all the sodium potassium and magnisium back in I’m now balanced. I dropped weight and felt great but since incorporating proteins back in I feel I’m failing somewhere… I’m back to occassional water retention feeling bloated and some days I feel strong others weak..? My muscle definitely not as full as when I did twice a week carb loads. I began this for better health clearer thinking and just due to always being tired. In the beginning I felt my body was holding muscle and leaning out now I’m going back and forth. I’m simply getting frustrated..too much protein not enough protein…same with fat. I don’t want to stop the process but need help figuring out MY macros..I’m a previous figure competetor and staying fit lean and holding onto every bit of lean body mass is crucial for me. I’m 43! Any advice would help and I’m planning on doing a consultation with you soon. Do you think you can help my dilemma? Why am I feeling blah and just cant get these thighs lean enough….ughhh:) I understand your view on health first..why I began this journey. I also work hard and train hard so I want “The Business” effect too! Lol. Where do you think I fit in as to which package you offer for coaching? Thank you bunches!
    Marcie

    Hey Stephanie!

I’m currently watching all your videos, they’re so inspiring!

I am 39 female, hypothyroid and severe adrenal issues 🙁 I just read Nora Gedgaudas book on rethinking fatigue and she also promotos a ketogenic diet for adrenal fatigue. You suggest healing these first, can I ease myself in gradually? I really want to give this diet a shot but am so scared of making myself feel worse. I’ve heard lots of people who have tried to go Keto and say it just made their AF worse. I’m already gluten, sugar & dairy free. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated please?
    Nerys x

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Nerys

I don’t suggest healing your issue prior to trying keto being that I believe keto can help speed up the healing process. I don’t know anything about your background to suggest a personalized plan of action..But you can take down your carb slowly if you nervous for keto flu responses in your first week

      Cheers S.

Ive been on a keto diet for two weeks now, last friday I started to feel more energetic, I want to know is it normal to for your skin to start feeling oily, and im confused on being keto adapted and when Im in ketosis? And im concerned if Im working out to hard or not. I work out for 45 mins in the mornings and thanks for all your you tube videos, they have been very helpful

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Angel

oily skin can happen to some who try keto the first 3 weeks but it is highly uncommon. The best way to check the hard evidence by using a glucometer. You want a low glucose between 60-80 and high ketones at 2.5 or higher.

I have just completed Paleo/Primal for 3 months and gained weight. I am in the process of killing off leaky gut and IBS. My doctors is recommending Keto and I am totally fine with this but I am having issues coming up with my food plan for the day. Most bacon has sugar – so thats out of the question. I tried to find sample plans but I am still confused. I eat 5 times a day and that works for my lifestyle. My snacks are suffering and I dont want give up. I feel great not eating grains right now. HELP! I dont want to give up.
    thanks
    Nancy

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hey Nancy

Don’t give up. Sometimes you have to just allow your body to adapt slowly. So many things might need fixing. You said you have leaky gut. It takes time for the junctions to heal in your intestine. At the same time you’ve gotta have impeccable sleep, healthy gut biome, the right macros & time.. And most important patients. I do offer keto coaching if you become to frustrated

I have been doing a ketogenic diet for 6 plus months now and Atkins the month prior. I’m down 30 ponds from the start of the year and have reduced my body fat by 6% but still have a very high percentage of body fat and would like to lose quite a bit more weight. I just turned 50. What would be a reasonable percentage of body fat that I should set as my goal?

  • Sarah Alba

    Hey Stephanie,
I’m getting over some hypothyroid and adrenal issues. I’ve tried a ketogenic diet in the past and never saw/felt a difference. I’d like to figure out the best way to ease into ketosis, assuming that I was doing it incorrectly in the past.
Could your hour consultation help guide me in the right direction?

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hey Sarah

Yes you could have your macros, gut biome, sleep and stress out of balance. Yes, it’s most likely the best to book a consultation. Look through my packages and let me know if you have any questions

      Cheers S

Stephanie I am huge van of yours came a cross your site looking for information about ketosis. My son now 11 years are on keto diet for some time I wowed to do diet with him, me diabetes 2 also noticed improvement in my health, glucose normal stopped using insulin!! I follow you on you tube for inpiration, I do exercise and now I also want the “business” do have muscle tone want my fat% down??

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Celia

Amazing that you and your son are on keto. It is also amazing your glucose numbers went down to normal. To access your body fat you need to become highly keto adapted and not just in ketosis. you would need to get your glucose under 80 and ketones over 0.5

  • Nicole

    Hi Stephanie,

I came across your videos on Youtube and I am interested in signing up for one of your keto consultation packages. I prefer e-mail to Skype if I purchase a meal plan with a 1 hour consultation can I email you the info you need instead of Skyping? Also what is the difference btwn purchasing just the meal plan and the plan with an additional hour consultation…Thanks again!

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Nicole

A Questionnaire option is a lower in price option for people to get a custom keto plan designed by me. With this option there is no chance to be able to speak to me directly and ask questions you might need to clear up.

The Consultation comes with a 1 hour live skype chat with me. It also comes with a custom keto plan as well as my basic keto recipes and potentially up to 4 weeks of keto coaching to ensure you are on the right track with your keto adaptation

      Cheers S

  • Stefanie

Hello! I have been watching so many of your youtube videos and I can not wait to try this keto lifestyle! I am very overweight and was wondering if I should start with a cleanse to clean out the candida first? What would you suggest?

  • Rani

    Hi Stephanie,
    You are so inspiring. I
am watching your video’s to learn. I have chronic excema.
I am hoping this kerogen diet will take the inflamation out of my body and heal the excema and the gut. I am also sugar, and dairy free. Do you have any thoughts on the excema.?
    Thankyou so much

  • juju

I have been on the ketogenic diet for 3 weeks. I’m in ketosis but have had not luck losing any weight…I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Juju

You have to keto adapt first before weight can come off. Your keto adaptation goes in stages. Only on the 3rd stage can you drop body fat. First you have to train your carb addicted brain to use ketones. it’s a process!

  • Amie

stephanie, I appreciate that you have dedicated your heart to helping others. I have been on keto since July 2014 (gluten and dairy free for 8 yrs prior) I have hypo., low iron, chronic constipation, digestive issues, no libodo, etc I can’t seem to loose weight or lean out at all. I haven’t exercised in years due to fatigue. My muscles are mush. My morning fasting glucose number runs between 87-90 and ketones between 1.1-1.9. I take a load of supplements, my sleep is getting better through the use of an induction mat, I started using grass fed butter 2 mths ago when I started trying out BPC and morning IF. I am now starting to add weight on and I am lost as to what to do. Are we a good fit for coaching or do you have any immediate thoughts? Thank you for all that you do.

  • Gabriel

    Hi

So I am trying to get started and I saw a couple comments on glucose and ketones so just to understand again if you can get your glucose under 80 and ketones at 2.5 or so that is a indicator that you are in Ketosis? Also is there a specific glucometer you recommend and how often do you check your levels.

Thanks for all your videos and data.

  • Anna

    Hi Stephanie,
So excited that I found you!!!! I as well was an athlete…a gymnast. At the age of 16 I dislocated me knee so bad that I knew my athletic career was over. After 6 surgeries on my left knee, osteoarthritis, and all the other ailments and yes pain in my right hip! I am going to be 49 years old this year and have not been able to run, jump, do squats, lunges etc. So 33 years of not being able to do this is so disconcerning. I have muscle atrophy so badly in my left knee, and as you know a rock in a hard place when I try I’m in so much pain. I have started the ketogenic diet and feel amazing!!!!! I do have muscle memory! I would like to get the quads and hamstrings strong again, especially to keep the knee from disclocating What excercises to you suggest?

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Anna

OMG you story sounds just like mine. You have just been injured longer than I…

I do small range of motion sumo squats, 10 lbs leg extensions, and glute kick backs for more hamstrings and glutes!

      Cheers S

  • Adrienne

    Hi, Stephanie!!!

First & foremost, I want to say that I love your positive spirit!!! You are so energetic & uplifting, & I really enjoy watching your youtube videos!!! 🙂

I started checking out your vlogs after I came across the ketogenic diet while researching information on the egg fast that a few of my friends were doing. You look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I’d love to have a body like THAT!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! I’ve lost over 50 pounds since I started my weight loss journey last May, & even though I’m much smaller (went from 233 to 181), I can’t seem to get rid of my kangaroo pouch (LOL)!!! I’ve been doing the Paleo diet, & since I’ve lost weight, I’m accomplishing goals I didn’t think were possible. I even plan to do a half marathon this year!!! WOOHOO!!! And like you, I don’t have a problem stating my age: I’m 53 & FABULOUS!!! 🙂

Whenever I go away on vacation or visit family or attend events, I indulge in the forbidden goodies: I’m still a work in progress. 🙂 I’m really impressed with all the information you’re providing for us regarding the keto diet, & I’m really interested in trying it!!! I know that I have to be mentally prepared to completely change my eating habits, & I say this all the time: I have to get my mind right to get my body tight!!! I’m ready mamacita!!! I’M READY!!! One of the first things you said is that we need to stop drinking caffeine. I drink 2 20-oz. cups of coffee a day, & I don’t have a problem with stopping it (drink it without sugar & cream). I drink lots of water & tea during the day (green, white, peppermint, pu-erh, Yerba Mate, Dandelion Root, Rooibos, etc.) Can I still drink these teas??? I really enjoy drinking them. I want to take the necessary steps to start working on getting rid of this spare tire, & I know stopping caffeine is the 1st one. Just inquiring about the teas; COFFEE DRINKING ENDS TODAY!!! 🙂

I wish you continued success on your Keto journey!!! I’m very thankful & grateful that I was led to your site!!! I plan to jump on board very soon!!! 🙂

Take care, & GOD BLESS!!! 🙂

    • Stephanie Person Post author

      Hi Adrienne

Yes you can drink most of those teas as long as they have no caffeine.. Yay!

Yes the coffee stops the day you posted LOL

Thank you for the fantastic support 🙂

      Cheers S

  • Myxee

    Hi Stephanie ,

I decided to start the keto diet today. Viewed all of your videos today, I wanted to ask you…what if I am insulin resistance already..will this diet help me regulate my insulin levels? Or reverse that problem? I also have pcos if that helps with your response . ..

    Thanks for your time,

    Myxee

    • Stephanie Person Post author

Myxee if you go slowly into keto then yes it can be amazing for people with insulin resistance. You would be keto adapted and less dependent on glucose which means improvements with insulin resistance

  • Leah

Hi Stephanie! I would be really interested to hear what you have to say about being in ketosis and pregnancy? I have been in a state of ketosis before and really liked it, but am hesitant about it again for the future because of possibly wanting to get pregnant one day. A lot of information you find online says that it is dangerous to both mom and baby, so I would love to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks!

    • Stephanie Person Post author

Leah for women wanting to do the ketogenic diet must truly check their health prior to starting. Making sure you have no adrenal, thyroid, gut or sleep issues is very important. If you check out clear… then yes I have read that you can use ketones while pregnant.

      Cheers S
